We are delighted to invite you to an interdisciplinary conference, exploring marginalised bodies in medieval culture.

Based at the University of Leeds, Medieval Bodies Ignored: Politics, Culture and Flesh will feature papers from across the world on topics such as:

  • Young Bodies
  • Animal Bodies
  • Romantic Bodies
  • Queering Lives
  • Holy Bodies
  • Dead Bodies
  • Troubling Bodies

The conference will also feature a roundtable, populated by postgraduate researchers and early career researchers, to discuss the marginalised body in academia. The final programme is available online here.

To deliver our keynote lectures, we are thrilled to be joined by Professor Kristina Richardson (Associate Professor of History, Queens College, The City University of New York) and Professor Carole Rawcliffe (Emeritus Professor of Medieval History, University of East Anglia). In addition, Katherine Lewis (Senior Lecturer in History, University of Huddersfield) will be our respondent.

Registrations for the conference have now closed, however, you can participate in discussions online through social media.
